Vietnam, Mozambique to open ambassadorial-level agencies
Maputo (VNA) - Vietnam and Mozambique agreed to open ambassadorial- level diplomatic agencies in their respective capital cities and establish an inter-governmental committee to boost bilateral cooperation in various fields.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nong Duc Manh and Mozambican President Armando Emilio Guebuza reached the consensus during their talks in the capital city of Maputo on April 4 (local time).
Both host and guest pledged to make greater efforts to expand the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership for mutual benefit and development of Vietnam and Mozambique as well as for peace, stability, cooperation and prosperity in Southeast Asia, Africa and the world at large.
The two sides agreed to organise regular high-level meetings; promote cooperation between ministries, sectors and localities; increase exchanges between civic organisations and share experiences in economic development in combination with social progress.
Vietnam and Mozambique decided to expand economic, trade and investment ties, firstly focusing on the exchange of experts, agro-forestry-fishery, wood exploiting and processing, pharmaceutical production, health care, education- training, science-technology, environment, energy and tourism.
The Vietnamese and Mozambican leaders applauded the enhancement of multifaceted cooperation between the two nations with the participation of third parties.
Party General Secretary Manh informed his host of Vietnam ’s decision to offer scholarships to five Mozambican students to study at agriculture university in the Southeast Asian country and send experts to Mozambique to help with wet rice cultivation.
After the talks, Party General Secretary Manh and President Armando Guebuza witnessed the signing of a protocol on the establishment of the Vietnam-Mozambique Intern-governmental Cooperation Committee, an agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders, and a protocol on education and training cooperation.
