Vietnam seeks further sci-tech cooperation with France

Paris (VNA) – A delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology led by Minister Hoang Van Phong has wrapped up a four-day working visit to France to intensify the bilateral cooperation in science and technology.

During the visit from April 5-8, Minister Phong had a meeting with French Minister of Higher Education and Research Valerie Pecresse, in which he expressed wish to foster the exchange and cooperation between Vietnamese and French sci-tech research establishments.

He said Vietnam needs France ’s assistance in training researchers by bringing them to French research institutes or sending experts to the country.

He also wished that the two sides would coordinate in carrying out bilateral research projects or at European Union-level, particularly in fields France has its advantages such as nuclear energy and remote sensing.

Agreeing with his opinion on the importance of high-skilled personnel training, French Minister Pecresse pledged to assist Vietnam through exchanging experts and learners.

France is eager to share experiences with Vietnam in training, researching and transferring technology in the nuclear energy and remote sensing, she said.

During his stay in France , Minister Phong also met with leaders of some French research establishments, including the laboratory centre of the Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), the National Centre for Scientific Research, and the Synchrotron Soleil.
