Vietnam, Morocco ties create new opportunities

Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong says Vietnam and Morocco have great potential to develop bilateral ties.

During a reception for President of the Moroccan Chamber of Councillors’s Committee for External Affairs, Border, Occupied Territories and Defense Lahbib El Eulj on April 22, the Vice Chairwoman praised Morocco ’s initiative for organising “Vietnamese Days” in Morocco as well as promoting trade and tourism between the countries.

She also said she hoped for further development of Vietnam-Morocco relations and cooperation by exchanging delegations, information and mutual support.

Moroccan Lahbib El Eulj pledged to support initiatives to strengthen ties outlined at a joint committee meeting in March and said he hoped that increased ties between the two countries will contribute to boosting North Africa and Southeast Asia cooperation.

Earlier in the day, El Eulj held talks with NA Committee for External Affairs Chairman Nguyen Van Son, where both sides spoke of boosting ties and cooperation between the two countries and within the South-South framework.

He said Morocco hopes to learn from Vietnam ’s experience in rice and coffee production, fishing and aquaculture, and human resource training.

He said the African country is a gateway to facilitate Vietnam ’s entry to important markets in the region and suggested establishing a Vietnam-Morocco Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Moroccan is on a three-day visit to Vietnam that began on April 21.
