Vietnam provides aid to China quake victims
Hanoi (VNA) – The Prime Minister has allocated 200,000 USD in emergency aid to help China overcome devastating losses of human lives and property caused by the May 12 earthquake in Sichuan province.
The disaster is the worst earthquake to hit China in three decades.
According to Xinhua news agency, the earthquake death toll in Sichuan province has exceeded 14,000. Vice Governor of Sichuan Li Chengyun told a news conference that the death toll, based on incomplete figures, tallied 14,463 by 4.00pm on May 14.
He said another 14,051 were missing, 25,788 buried in debris and 64,746 injured.
