Former UNDP official to Vietnam honoured
Beijing (VNA) – Former representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Subinay Nandy has been presented with Vietnam ’s Friendship Medal.
Nandy, who is now UNDP Country Director in China , received the distinction at the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing on May 19.
Addressing the function, Vietnamese Minister Councellor Dang Minh Khoi spoke about Nandy’s contributions to boosting friendship and comprehensive cooperation between UNDP with Vietnam , guiding development programmes to serve the country’s economic reform, poverty reduction, social problems resolving, HIV and bird flu control.
In thanking the government for the honour, Nandy praised the Vietnamese Government and people’s effective cooperation, along with the development prospects of Vietnam .
During Nandy’s term of office in Vietnam from September 2004 to May 2007, he was UNDP provisional representative, UNDP Deputy Representative and UNDP Country Director in Vietnam.
