Book on Vietnam-Netherlands relations debuts
HCM City (VNA) – A book on the Vietnam-Netherlands relations during the past four centuries has been launched at a seminar at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City on May 20.
The book, called “Lion and Dragon: Four centuries of Vietnam-Netherland relations”, traces the history of relations between the two countries from the early 17th century.
It is published in Dutch, English and Vietnamese with the Vietnamese version recently made debut in Vietnam .
The seminar launch focused on economic, trade and cultural exchanges between the two countries and the impacts of these relations on their own societies.
It also introduced Vietnam ’s external economic activities, its potential and the recent development of bilateral relations, particularly after Vietnam became a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the World Trade Organsiation (WTO).
Addressing the event, Dutch Ambassador Andre Haspel said bilateral relations over the past four hundred years have expanded to various fields, including trade, investment, health care, environment and culture.
