Vietnam welcomes Nepal election result
New York (VNA) – Deputy Vietnamese representative to the UN Security Council Ambassador Bui The Giang has welcomed the result of the recent Constituent Assembly election in Nepal .
At a UNSC meeting in New York on May 22, Ambassador Giang, congratulated the Nepali government and people on the result and the UN Misson in Nepal (UNMIN) for their contribution to ensuring a fair and democratic election process.
The minister also expressed appreciation to UNMIN for their work in monitoring arms, land mines clearance, gender equality promotion and child protection.
Political parties in Nepal should work together in the spirit of responsibility, cooperation and conciliation in order to establish a new government as soon as possible, the Vietnamese representative said.
The diplomat suggested Nepal should aim to negotiate internal matters through exercising self-control and self-determination, with a view to gaining stability and sustainable development.
Ambassador Giang said the UN and international community should continue to assist Nepal on the basis of the Nepali government’s requests, in respect of the country’s own independence and sovereignty as well as the UN Charter and international laws.
