Party leader asks Vietnamese, Chinese fronts to do more for bilateral ties
Beijing (VNA) – Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh hoped for closer cooperation between the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and the Vietnam Fatherland Front to help promote mutual understanding and friendship between people of the two countries.
The Party leader met with Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Jia Qinglin in Beijing on June 1 during his official visit to China .
Chairman Jia said he was pleased to learn about the good results of the Vietnamese Party General Secretary’s talks and meetings with other Chinese leaders, expressing his belief that by building comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and solidifying mutual trust, the two countries’ ties will enter a new phase of development.
He took the occasion to thank the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their sympathy and help to earthquake victims in Sichuan , affirming his agency will continue to work closely with the Vietnam Fatherland Front for increased mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.
Party General Secretary Manh highly valued the Chinese Party, Government and people’s efforts to overcome the aftermath of the earthquake, and expressed joy to see great achievements the Chinese people have recorded at a time when their country pursued open-door and renovation policy.
He told the CPPCC leader that the good outcomes of his visit will help elevate the two countries’ traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new height in terms of quality.
On the day, the Vietnamese party leader and his entourage visited the eastern coastal province of Jiangsu , which had attracted 21.89 billion USD in foreign direct investment in 2007, the highest figure recorded in China in the year.
Meeting with the provincial authorities, Party General Secretary Manh congratulated Jiangsu on its impressive gains as well as immense contributions to China ’s robust growth.
He said the province’s valuable socio-economic development experiences, particularly its implementation of policies on building socialist-oriented rural areas and hi-tech zones are useful to Vietnam .
The party leader stressed that cooperation and mutual assistance and supports between localities are important to fostering and increasing the two countries’ traditional solidarity, friendship, and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. He called on Jiangsu to increase all-faceted cooperation with Vietnamese localities for mutual development.
