Canadian navy seeks cooperation possibilities with Vietnam


HCM City (VNA) – Canadian Rear-Admiral Tyrone H.W. Pile says the Canadian navy visit has paved the way for indepth discussions about cooperation with Vietnam .

Rear Admiral Tyrone Pile, Commander of Maritime Forces Pacific, made the statement at a meeting with Permanent Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Tai on June 6.

Good stability and security is an important foundation for economic development and enhancing friendly relations, Rear-Admiral Pile said.

He took the opportunity to praise HCM City ’s role and position in Southeast Asia and express his joy at the strong development of the friendly cooperation between HCM City and Toronto in different fields which he said benefit both peoples.

Vice Chairman Tai said he believed the visit will open new cooperation fields.

“We are interested in possibilities for in-depth cooperation with Canada in financial transaction, banking, tourism and transport,” the city’s official said.

During the visit to HCM City from June 4-8, the Regina military ship with around 240 people on board will pay tribute to the late President Ho Chi Minh at his statue and hold an exchange with military officers and soldiers of the Navy High Command and Military Zone No. 7.
