Vietnamese, Lao experts meet on border marker planting
Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese and Lao experts on the planting of border markers have agreed on specific tasks to prepare for the planting of border markers on the two countries’ shared borderline this year.
They reached the agreement at their second meeting in Luang Prabang province of Laos from June 10-15. The meeting saw frank and sincere discussions in the spirit of friendship, trust and mutual understanding.
The experts reached consensus on the content of legal documents and technical matters in service of the implementation of a project to augment and restore the Vietnam-Laos border marker system before reporting it to the co-chairs of the Vietnam-Laos Joint Committee for Planting Border Markers for consideration and approval.
They also agreed on a number of issues related to border management between the two countries and discussed their plan for 2009.
The two sides signed minutes of their meeting, which will serve as an important foundation for relevant agencies and localities of the two countries to jointly organise the implementation of the Vietnam-Laos border marker system augment and restoration project as scheduled by the two governments.
