Outgoing ambassador pledges to strengthen Cuban ties with Vietnam
Hanoi (VNA) – Outgoing Cuban Ambassador Jesus Aise Sotolongo has pledged to further contribute to the cooperative and friendly relations between Cuba and Vietnam .
The pledge was made while the ambassador was received by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in Hanoi on June 18.
The PM appreciated the Cuban diplomat’s contributions during his working term in Vietnam and confirmed that Vietnam and Cuba have traditional friendship relations, especially in politics and diplomacy.
He suggested that the two countries should promote economic, commercial and investment cooperation and attach special importance to the implementation of projects and cooperative programmes as well as building more cooperative projects.
The same day, the Cuban diplomat was presented with a “for peace and friendship among nations” commemorative medal of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO).
The award was made in recognition of his contributions to promoting the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.
