US organisations help the disadvantaged in Kien Giang

The Habitat for Humanity and Catalyst Foundation organisations of the US on August 12 started construction of 90 houses and a vocational training centre for poor families in Rach Gia city, southern Kien Giang province.

Kien Giang (VNA) – The houses, with a total cost of 857,000 USD, are expected to be completed in March 2009 to benefit the poor families, who are living at the city’s dumping site.

The two US organisations earlier funded a primary school, a library and an entertainment area for children living nearby the dumping ground and the training of 10 local people in making handicraft items from bang grass (a wet land wild grass in Kien Giang)
