NA Chairman expects broader Vietnam-Cuba cooperation

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong has said Vietnam and Cuba need to broaden their cooperation in all fields to meet development demands in the new situation.

Hanoi (VNA) – He was speaking at his reception for Cuban Ambassador Fredesman Turro Gonzales, who returned to Vietnam for another working term, in Hanoi on Sept. 10.

Chairman Trong said he believed Ambassador Gonzales, with thorough understanding about Vietnam that he had accumulated in his previous term, will accomplish his second term successfully to contribute to furthering the traditional friendship between the two countries.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese people never forget the valuable assistance and support they received from the Cuban people during the struggle for national independence and the current cause of national construction.

The Cuban diplomat said Cuba and Vietnam have established exemplary and special political ties and they have great untapped potentials for the expansion of bilateral cooperation in various fields for the sake of both countries’ prosperity.

The ambassador pledged to do his utmost to elevate the friendship and cooperation between the two countries and expressed hopes to be assisted by the National Assembly and concerned agencies during his working term here.

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem also met with Ambassador Fredesman Turro Gonzales.
