Moroccan firms keen on HCM City, says PM

HCM City (VNA) – Moroccan businesses are very interested in Ho Chi Minh City with the hope that the city in its capacity as a driving force of Vietnam ’s economy will bring them huge opportunities.

Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi, who is on an official visit to Vietnam , was speaking to the HCM City People’s Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan during their meeting on Nov. 25.

PM El Fassi shared with Quan his concern about the fulfillment of social development targets, noting that Morocco allocated up to 53 percent of the budget for social development in 2007.

Morocco is implementing the National Initiative for Human Development with a view to creating jobs for the local people in 1,500 communes and cities across the country, he said.

The Moroccan leader said he was pleased with the outcomes of the visit and hoped that it will open up new prospects for Morocco-Vietnam ties in various fields ranging from politics and diplomacy to culture and trade.

Quan said Vietnam and Morocco need to fully tap available potentials and hoped Moroccan businesses will soon seek reliable partners in HCM City to take full advantage of its investment incentives, business opportunities and market for Moroccan products.

The mayor highlighted the city’s socio-economic development, projects in need of foreign investment and its demands for international economic cooperation, particularly direct cooperation at local-level.
