NA chairman receives outgoing Singapore ambassador
The two sides have effectively launched a Framework Agreement on linking the two economies, and closely coordinated at a number of regional and international forums, the chairman said.
Along with the strengthened ties between the two countries, the cooperation between the two legislative bodies has also accelerated, particularly since Vietnam became a member of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), Trong added.
On this occasion, he also congratulated the Singaporean Parliament for its successful organisation of the AIPA 29, which took place last August.
The NA Chairman appreciated the active and effective contributions of Ambassador Lim Thuan Kuan to strengthening the cordial relations between Vietnam and Singapore in the past, and hoped that the diplomat would continue to help strengthening them in the future.
Trong also asked the ambassador to relay his invitation to the Singaporean Parliament Chairman, asking him to make an official visit to Vietnam in the near future.
Ambassador Lim Thuan Kuan said he was glad to witness the changes in Vietnam in all areas during the last three years, and that Singaporean businesses remain interested in investing in Vietnam , despite the global economic turmoil, which demonstrates their confidence in the nation’s growth and development.
The diplomat added that he is due to be appointed as Chief of the Singaporean mission to ASEAN, but whate ver new position he takes on, he would continue making an effort to help strengthen the bilateral relations between Singapore and Vietnam.
