Party central office asked to raise its game

Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary Nong Duc Manh asked the Party Central Committee’s Office on January 15 to improve the quality of the information and advice it provides to better assist the Politburo and Secretariat in making accurate predictions.

Addressing the office’s conference to review its performance in 2008 and draw up a schedule of work for 2009, Manh congratulated Ngo Van Du, head of the office, on his election as a member of the Secretariat during a recent meeting of the Party Central Committee.

Whilst predicting that even worse times lie ahead for the nation’s economy, Manh stressed the importance of making accurate forecasts to help the Party’s leading bodies to make proper decisions to cope with any economic difficulties.

The leader praised the efforts and contributions of all of the office’s staff to ensuring the implementation of the agendas of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo and Secretariat during 2008.

He reminded the office of the main tasks planned by the Central Committee for 2009, namely preventing an economic recession, staving off inflation, and maintaining economic growth whilst ensuring social welfare.
