Vietnam, Switzerland agree on visa exemption for diplomats

Bern (VNA) – Vietnam and Switzerland have initialed an agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic passport holders to facilitate their diplomats’ travel between the two countries.

The signing was witnessed by Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Cuong and Swiss Deputy Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Pierre Helg at the end of their working session in Bern on Feb. 2.

During their meeting, the Vietnamese and Swiss officials said they were pleased with developments in bilateral friendship and multi-dimensional cooperation over the past years.

They particularly praised the Swiss President’s visit to Vietnam last August which helped bring bilateral ties to a new height, especially in the fields of politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, education and training.

The diplomats highly valued the close and regular coordination between the two foreign ministries, attributing it to the successful organisation of visits and events, which they said, would serve as a basis for the promotion of bilateral cooperation.

Deputy Foreign Minister Cuong was accompanying Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan in the latter’s working visit to Switzerland which aimed to deploy bilateral education and training cooperation programmes.
