Vietnam, Thailand strengthen defence relations

Vietnamese Defence Minister Gen. Phung Quang Thanh and his Thai counterpart Prawit Wongsuwan held talks in Bangkok on Feb. 23 to discuss measures to lift the two countries’ defence ties to a new height.

At the talks taking place after an official welcome ceremony, the two Defence Ministry delegations informed each other of the security and defence situation in their respective countries.

They pledged to join hands to build up Vietnam-Thailand neighbourly ties and partnership and bring the two countries’ relations in defence to the same level with bilateral relations in other areas.

The same day, Minister Thanh and his delegation paid a courtesy visit to Thai Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban.

Thanh and his delegation are scheduled to attend the 3rd ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting in Pattaya from Feb. 25-27./.
