Vietnamese Embassy meets with Canadian adopters

VNA - The Vietnamese Embassy in Canada has held a get-together with Canadian families that are fostering Vietnamese children.

Addressing the event on Feb. 28, which drew the participation of 60 Canadian adoptive parents, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Duc Hung expressed thanks to the Canadian families, saying he hoped that the children would become good citizens of Canada.

The ambassador affirmed that Vietnam would continue its close cooperation with Canada to ensure that child adoptions observe sense of humanity and legal provisions of both countries.

Dorrida Cavanaugh, Director of the TDH Ontario – a charitable organisation for Vietnamese children adoption in Ontario and Quebec, said over the past three years her organisation helped about 150 Canadian parents to adopt Vietnamese children.

She said that all Vietnamese adoptees have integrated into their new families and their adopters are all happy, and many of them express their wish to receive more underprivileged Vietnamese children.

The adoptive parents said they hoped that the Vietnamese Embassy would regularly organise such get-togethers for Vietnamese adoptees to meet each other./.
