NA Chairman calls for stronger cooperation with Austria

VNA - National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his hope that Austria would enhance economic, investment and commercial cooperation with Vietnam while receiving a delegation of Austrian law makers in Hanoi on Mar. 18.

The Austrian delegation, led by Heinzl Anton, Chairman of the parliament Committee of Transport and Infrastructure, is on a working visit to Vietnam from Mar. 17-21.

Chairman Trong said over the recent past, Vietnam-Austria cooperation has been developed positively, but is still incommensurate with the two countries’ potentials and desires.

He said the two legislatures should increase the exchange of delegations, and sharing of experiences, contributing to boosting Vietnam-Austria relations. He also said he looked forward to welcoming the Speaker of the Parliament of Austria to Vietnam.

Heinzl Anton conveyed a message of the Social Democratic Party of Austria to Chairman Trong, affirming that the Austrian people always follow Vietnam’s development with their admiration and special sentiment. They believed that Vietnam will continue recording greater achievement in its renewal process and playing an important role in the region.

He noted the development steps in two countries’ political and economic relations over recent years, saying that the presence of more than 200 Austrian small- and medium-sized enterprises in Vietnam is a factor to decide success of the two countries’ economic cooperation activities.

The Austrian MP agreed that the two sides can promote experience exchange, especially in poverty reduction./.
