Vietnam expects Netherlands’ support to cope with climate change
Receiving newly-appointed Netherlands’ Ambassador Jozef Willem Scheffers in Hanoi on March 26, PM Dung thanked the European country for providing ODA capital and backing Vietnam in the leather shoe dumping lawsuit, as well as offering the Southeast Asian country preferential tariff treatment.
Vietnam-Netherlands two-way trade value reached US$2 billion in 2008. The Netherlands is among leading European investors in Vietnam with a total investment capital of US$2.6 billion.
Noting that the two countries have great potential for co-operation in economics, trade and investment, the PM pledged to offer favourable conditions to Dutch investors.
The Netherlands is willing to boost co-operation with Vietnam in flood control, port building, agricultural production and health, said ambassador Jozef.
To enhance bilateral co-operation, the Netherlands’ Minister of Agriculture and a Secretary of State in charge of water management will visit Vietnam, Jozef said, adding that his country will help improve Vietnam’s education by implementing a programme worth millions of EUR. (VNA)
