Sudanese minister visits Vietnam

VNA - Award Ahmed Eljjaz, Minister of Finance and Economy and Special Envoy of the President of Sudan, visited Vietnam from March 29-31.

The Sudanese minister was received by Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, who received a letter from President Omar al-Bashir to be delivered to President Nguyen Minh Triet. The minister and Special Envoy of the President also worked with Deputy Foreign Minister Doan Xuan Hung.

In their meetings, the two sides discussed measures to further promote Vietnam-Sudan multifaceted cooperation, particularly in agriculture and the oil and gas industry. They also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.

The Sudanese side expressed its admiration at the Vietnamese people’s past struggle for national independence, and recognized the significant socio-economic achievements of the country over the past 20 years of renewal, as well as Vietnam’s emerging role in the international arena.

The Vietnamese side thanked the Sudanese people for their support of Vietnam’s past struggle, and expressed hope that the two countries’ traditional friendship and cooperation will continue to grow./.
