Tunisian ruling party seeks closer ties with Vietnam
The RCD Deputy General Secretary, Hager Cherif, delivered this message in a meeting with Truong Tan Sang, Politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), in Hanoi on April 21.
Cherif spoke highly of Vietnam’s achievements during the renewal process, as well as its efforts in copping with numerous difficulties resulting from the ongoing world economic crisis.
The RCD official said that she believed, under the leadership of the CPV, the Vietnamese people will obtain greater successes in national construction and defence, and the country’s position will be improved. She also briefed her host about the RCD Party and the situation in Tunisia and North Africa.
Sang, who is also a permanent member of the CPVCC’s Secretariat, stressed that the first-ever visit by the RCD delegation marked a milestone in friendly and cooperative ties between the two Parties and nations.
He congratulated and praised the achievements the RCD Party and Tunisian people have made since the African country launched its reform process in 1987.
The host informed his guest of Vietnam’s renewal process, its recent socio-economic development, and major directions and tasks Vietnam plans to fulfill in the years to come.
Earlier, the RCD delegates held talks with Phung Huu Phu, member of the CPVCC and Deputy Head of the CPVCC’s Information and Education Commission.
The two sides informed each other of the situation of their respective Parties and States and also discussed a range of international and regional issues of mutual concern plus measures to promote their bilateral relationship.
While in the country, the RCD delegation is scheduled to work with the Vietnam Union of Women and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s Central Committee and visit a number of economic and cultural establishments and relic sites./.
