Vietnam, Cuba trade unions cement ties

VNA- A delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) led by its President Dang Ngoc Tung is on a working visit to Cuba from April 30-May 4.

The delegation was received by Salvador Valdes Mesa, member of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC)’s Political Bureau and General Secretary of the Cuban Workers Central Union (CTC) on May 2.

The two sides exchanged experiences in trade union activities and agreed to increase exchange of delegations and cooperation in personnel training.

On the occasion, Tung handed over 10,000 USD and several sets of computer as part of a 2 billion VND donation from Vietnamese workers to Cuban friends.

During the visit, the Vietnamese delegation met with Jorge Marti Martinez, Chairman of the CPC Central Committee’s Commission for External Affairs, where they expressed their determination to tighten the relations between the two Parties, States and trade unions.

The Vietnamese delegation also joined an international meeting to show solidarity with Cuba held in Havana. At the meeting, Tung highlighted achievements the Cuban people have gained over 50 years of their revolutionary cause and affirmed Vietnam’s support to Cuban people’s demand for an end to the US embargo and the release of five Cuban patriots who are being illegally detained in the US.

The Cuban National Assembly Deputy Chairman, Jaime Crombet, also received the Vietnamese delegation./.
