Deputy PM meets US Religious Freedom delegation
The Deputy PM highlighted the Vietnamese government’s consistent policy that tries to ensure people’s religious lives. This is seen as an important objective for the country’s socio-economic development process, Khiem said.
He said the assessment of religious situation in Vietnam should be based on a comprehensive and objective, taking into account the country’s historical, cultural and traditional characteristics.
He confirmed that Vietnam is willing to talk and share information relating to religious affairs to strengthen mutual understanding.
For its part, the delegation appreciated the nation’s report as part of the Universal Periodic Review of the UN Human Rights Council at a session in Geneva on May 8./.
