PM addresses the plenary session of Future of Asia Conference
The Vietnamese PM praised the Conference as a good chance for comprehensive and thorough discussions about measures and modes of cooperation in coping with the crisis and preparing for the new development stage of Asia and the world.
Six solutions to bring Asia out of the crisis
Though not lying in the eye of the global financial storm, Asia is affected seriously because many Asian economies heavily depend on American and European markets where the crisis is ravaging, said PM Dũng.
He put forth six prioritized solutions of joint actions to help the continent overcome current difficulties.
It is necessary to strengthen the trust and form the fundamental foundation for sustainable development, suggested PM Dũng.
He urged Asian economies to expand and deepen their economic and trade cooperation.
He also stressed the need of further enhancing cooperation among underdeveloped regions and subregions to narrow the development gap within the continent.
The Vietnamese leader underscored the necessity of raising Asia’s role in building a global trade frame, renovating international financial and monetary systems and jointly dealing with the crisis.
“A community is strong only when each of its members is strong,” stated Mr. Dũng.
Finally, according to the Vietnamese PM, Asian countries should increase their creativity, take part in building a peaceful and stable international environment and solidify the continent’s status of a cradle of civilization.
The solid confidence, great efforts and effective coordination shared among countries in the region will surely lead to an aggressive strength with which Asia can overcome challenges and advance to a future of prosperity for all Asian countries, said PM Dũng.
Việt Nam eyes more vigorous economic development
The Vietnamese PM proudly briefed Việt Nam’s achievements in preventing economic recession, maintaining macro-economic stability and ensuring social security.
He said that the crisis is a good chance for Việt Nam to speed up its structural reform, perfect management system and lay the foundation for its sustainable development in the future.
"Việt Nam is still a dynamic economy and a trustworthy destination for investors," emphasized the PM, adding that the country will do its utmost, in close coordination with other countries, to overcome all difficulties and reach to a stage of increasingly vigorous economic development, contributing to the region’s prosperity.
The Vietnamese PM also discussed with many speakers Việt Nam’s foreign investment policies, the country’s Japan-funded ODA projects, and Asia’s future.
