NA leader praises Thailand-Vietnam parliamentary friendship
The NA leader stated this while receiving Chairman Paijit in Hanoi on May 29.
She said she hoped that both parties would step up the exchange of delegations of MPs and NA bodies to enhance understanding and co-operation in legislative affairs and monitor the Government in carrying out its commitments within the framework of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Chairman Paijit congratulated Vietnam on its success in maintaining political stability and positive economic growth despite many difficulties resulting from the financial crisis and the global economic downturn.
He said that most overseas Vietnamese in Thailand have been granted with Thai citizenship and have made important contributions to Thailand’s economic development.
He expressed his hope that co-operation and exchanges between the two parliaments would be further expanded, thus contributing to the development of the two countries’ relationship.
Earlier, on May 28, Chairman Paijit held talks with Vice Chairman of the NA’s Committee for External Affairs Ngo Duc Manh, who is also the Chairman of the Vietnam-ASEAN Parliamentary Friendship Group.
During its four-day stay in Vietnam, the delegation will visit a number of places of cultural interest in Hanoi and travel to the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh.
