The “Fight against illegal coal mining in Quang Ninh” by two reporters from Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper won the A prize for printing press while the top award for radio broadcasting went to “Looking for new model in agricultural production” by Voice of Vietnam (VOV) reporters. The A prize for television was awarded to “Alert against child abuse” by two reporters from Dong Nai Radio and TV station.

President Triet affirmed the Party and State’s recognition of mass media’s role and power in national defence as well as construction.

The “Press is not only a bridge that connects the Party, State and the people but also timely reports and gives due analysis on national developments, thus contributing to gearing public opinions on domestic and world situations to the right direction,” he emphasised.

The “Press is responsible for discovering and reporting instantly good deeds and successful examples and models in production as well as bringing to light negative cases such as corruption and wastefulness. The press has also been a tough fighter against social evils and hostile forces’ schemes and distortions,” Triet concluded.

The National Press Prix, the third of its kind so far, distinguished 52 works in total, including 12 B prizes, 37 C prizes and 28 consolation prizes out of 977 entries./.
