Vietnam, Laos work to speed up border marker planting

VOV - Vietnam and Laos have agreed on a number of measures to speed up the planting of markers along their shared borderline, and build a plan for the task in 2010 at the fifth joint session of border experts from the two nations scheduled for June 28-July 3.

The two sides reiterated their resolve to complete the planting of more border markers and upgrading of the existing ones by 2014, in an effort to build a common borderline of peace, friendship and development.

The two sides appreciated the joint marker planting groups and border provinces for defining 96 locations for the planting of markers in May and June.
Vietnam’s delegation to the session was led by Nguyen Hong Thao, Vice head of the Foreign Ministry’s National Border Committee, while the Lao delegation was headed by Phukhau Phama Vongsa, Head of the Office of Foreign Ministry’s National Border Committee.

A number of representatives from relevant Vietnamese and Lao ministries and agencies also attended the event./.
