NA vice chairman encourages Canadian investment in Vietnam

VOV 14/7/2009 - The National Assembly will adopt policies aimed at creating the best possible conditions for Canadian investors to do long-term business in Vietnam, said NA vice chairman Nguyen Duc Kien.

Mr Kien made the statement at a reception in Hanoi on July 14 for Daniel Venier, former advisor to the Canadian Prime Minister, who is leading a delegation of Canadian businesspeople to Vietnam.

Mr Kien described the visit as a good chance for the business communities of the two countries to explore opportunities for cooperation. He noted that both Vietnam and Canada still have great potential for improving their economic and trade cooperation.
He assured the Canadian official that Vietnam will give priority to implementing the economic agreements signed between the two countries.

Mr Venier said he was impressed by Vietnam’s Renewal achievements and would inform the Canadian business community back home about the success of his visit and Vietnam’s open-door policy.

Vietnam will continue to be a reliable investment destination for Canadian businesses, thanks to its political stability and abundant labour force, said the Canadian official.

He said Canadian businesses want to cooperate with Vietnam in hi-technology, vocational training, petrochemistry and infrastructure construction.
