Vietnam wishes to boost multi-faceted ties with Sudan

VNA 08/02/2010 - Vietnam wishes to boost its multi-faceted relationship, especially in politics, socio-economics and culture, with Sudan, said Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan.

Receiving General Director of the Sudan National Petroleum Corporation (Sudapet) Salah Hassan Wahbi Hassan in Hanoi on February 8, Doan affirmed that Vietnam supports investment cooperation between Sudapet and the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam).

She said she hoped that the Sudanese State and Sudapet will create conditions for PetroVietnam to carry out an investment projects in the country, thus helping boost cooperation between the two nations.

For his part, Hassan thanked Vietnam for its support for Sudan over the past time, especially when the former undertook the role of non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

He expressed his belief that Vietnam will fulfil its role as the ASEAN Chair in 2010 and said that Sudan defines 2010 as a year of cooperation with PetroVietnam./.
