More attention to be paid to overseas Vietnamese

VNA 03/03/2010 - Several policies relating to overseas Vietnamese will be checked and amended to better fit the current realities and expectations of the Vietnamese community living abroad.

This is part of a coordination programme between the Foreign Ministry, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (SCOV).

According to the programme, which was signed on March 3 in Hanoi , VFF and SCOV will provide guidelines for the establishment and operation of the Overseas Vietnamese Association, the Overseas Vietnamese Contact Association and the Overseas Vietnamese Relatives Association.

The two sides agreed that in case of necessity or upon request, each will have the right to make statements or send petitions to the authorities legislative bodies, and government, non-government and international organisations to ask for their support for Vietnamese overseas./.
