According to Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, as of March 3rd afternoon, about 2,800 Vietnamese workers in Libya have returned home and over 6,000 are in transit in third countries. The second Vietnam Airlines flight is scheduled to bring about 300 workers from Tunisia back to Viet Nam on March 4th morning. The Viet Nam Embassy in Libya, in cooperation with labour export companies and local authorities, is sparing no effort to assemble and evacuate all remaining workers from Libya. No casualties of Vietnamese citizens in Libya has been reported so far.
In the efforts to rapidly evacuate Vietnamese citizens from Libya and bring home those who are in transit in neighboring countries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam has asked ASEAN member countries and related ones to share information, cooperate and assist in workers evacuation from Libya.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed Vietnamese representative missions in countries where evacuated workers would transit, such as Singapore and Thailand, to station working teams at airports to assist workers in necessary procedures and to provide needed materials.
