VN ambassador presents credentials to Sri Lanka

VNA 26/04/2011 - Viet Nam’s ambassador to Sri Lanka Ton Sinh Thanh presented his credentials to the country’s President Mahinda Rajapaksa on April 26.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Rajapaksa welcomed Vietnam ’s reopening of its embassy in the capital city of Colombo , describing the move as a new and important development step in long-term relations between Vietnam and Sri Lanka .

He said that the Sri Lankan government and people will create favourable conditions for the embassy to operate in the country, in order to contribute to taking relations between the two countries into a new height, soon becoming a comprehensive partnership in all fields.

On his part, Ambassador Thanh praised the great victories of Sri Lankan people under the leadership of President Rajapaksa in fighting terrorism in the past, as well as its remarkable socio-economic achievements in the current national reconstruction.

He promised to exert himself to strengthen and boost the traditional friendship and effective cooperation between the two nations in the future./.
