6th Vietnamese-Indian Strategic Defence Dialogue at deputy ministerial level held in Ha Noi
Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and Indian Defence Secretary Shashi Kant Sharma co-chaired the event.
The two sides agreed that relations between Viet Nam and India are entering a new stage of development, becoming more intensive in all fields.
Defence cooperation continues to develop actively and effectively in line with the strategic partnership agreed by leaders of the two countries.
Especially through the exchange of delegations at all levels and strategic defence dialogue, armies of the two countries have built mutual trust and understanding, creating a new momentum to effectively develop friendship and cooperation in training of staff in the naval, air defence and air force and defence industry.
The two sides agreed on many measures to boost defence cooperation through the exchange of delegations and information, training and information technology.
They reached common awareness on building a roadmap, a mechanism and measures to cooperate in the naval, air force, infantry and defence industry.
They also shared experiences of participating in the UN peacekeeping force and mentioned the implementation of the multilateral defence relations signed at the first ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+) in Ha Noi in 2010.
At the end of the event, Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and Shashi Kant Sharma signed the minutes of the Sixth Vietnamese-Indian Strategic Defence Dialogue.
The same day, Shashi Kant Sharma paid a courtesy visit to Vietnamese Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh.
The Indian Defence Secretary is scheduled to meet with Deputy Defence Minister and Naval Commander Vice Admiral Nguyen Van Hien and Air Defence Commander Lieutenant General Phuong Minh Hoa./.
