Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung receives World Bank Vice President James Adams
To boost the Viet Nam-WB cooperation, both sides should target to major goals, including connecting WB's loans for 2011-2015 with the country's socio-economic development plan for 2011-2015, especially in infrastructure, poverty reduction, human resource training, and response to climate change, PM Dung added.
The PM requested the WB to continue increasing International Development Association (IDA) credits sourced from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) to fund Viet Nam’s projects to cope with climate change.
James Adams said the WB will accompany Viet Nam on its way to socio-economic development . The WB will continue maintaining the loans with preferential interest rates for Vietnam to help it develop infrastructure, poverty reduction and response to climate change, he said.
The WB leader also spoke highly of the Vietnamese government’s efforts in stabilising the macro economy and combining policies with programmes to ensure social welfare for the poor.
The WB leaders will gather this December to review loan sources for Viet Nam, and the country should set up plans in response to climate change and present them to the WB for loans in 2012, Adams advised./.
