While receiving Canadian Governor General David
Johnston in Ha Noi on Nov. 17, NA Chairman Hung suggested Viet Nam and
Canada bolster cooperation in politics, diplomacy, healthcare, trade and
investment.
The legislative chief thanked the Canadian State and
people for their active support for Viet Nam’s socio-economic
development projects and said he hoped programme coordination will be
effectively carried out.
Viet Nam is striving to rebuild the
country after war, finalising mechanisms to boost economic development,
speeding up hunger eradication and poverty reduction programmes and
ensuring social security, said NA Chairman Hung.
Viet Nam is
making a comprehensive international integration in various fields and
willing to cooperate with Canada for the interest of each side and for
peace and development, he affirmed.
The Governor General, on his
first State visit to Viet Nam, expressed his belief that the visit will
bring the two countries’ relations to a new height.
Johnston
commended Viet Nam on fulfilling the Millennium Development Goals,
especially in hunger eradication and poverty reduction and improving
people’s living conditions.
Viet Nam and Canada can boast of many
opportunities and a great potential for cooperation, he said, noting
that both countries should constantly boost cooperative activities to
make contributions to bolstering their friendship./.
