Emir of Qatar received by Prime Minister and National Assembly Chairman

(VNA - 17/01/2012) - The Emir of Qatar was received by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on Jan 16.

Dung said he wanted the two countries to promote more trade activities and take two-way commerce turnover to an even higher figure.

He said Viet Nam is willing to cooperate with Qatar on oil, labour and agriculture and will support Qatar to set up a training and recruitment centre in Viet Nam.

In addition, he said the Vietnamese Government is ready to cooperate with Qatar to establish a joint investment fund.

The Emir of Qatar said Qatar is willing to receive workers from Viet Nam. He urged that the two countries hold the first session of their joint governmental committee as early as possible on concrete measures to boost bilateral cooperation.

At a reception for the Emir of Qatar the same day, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung welcomed the Emir’s suggestion that cooperation be developed in fields that both nations are strong in.

He called on the two sides to tap into each country’s advantages. For Qatar, this means its strong financial ability, while for Viet Nam it is the large pool of labour.

Hung suggested that the two countries can also boost cooperation in culture, education and health care, in addition to economic ties./.
