Viet Nam steps up cooperation with Italy, EU

(VNA - 25/3/2012) - Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son held bilateral talks with leaders of the European Union and Italy on the sidelines of the recent ASEAN Awareness Forum in Rome.

At the meetings with the Vice President of the European Commission, Antonio Tajani, the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Italy, Marta Dassu, and the Director General for Development Cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Elisabetta Belloni, Son informed them about Viet Nam ’s socio-economic and diplomatic situation.

He affirmed Viet Nam ’s consistent foreign policy of independence and openness and the country’s active engagement in the regional and international integration.

The Deputy Foreign Minister pledged that the Vietnamese Government will create favourable conditions for European and Italian businesses to invest in the country.

Representatives of the EU and Italy expressed their good sentiments to the land and people of Viet Nam and highly valued achievements Vietnamese people have obtained in the renewal process and international integration.

They committed to actively work to further strengthen trade and investment ties with Viet Nam, bringing the Viet Nam-EU-Italy ties to a new level that matches the potential and aspirations of all sides.
