Party leader leaves for Cuba, Brazil
The visits are made at the invitation of the First General Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of the Cuban State Council and Council of Ministers, Castro Ruz, and the Brazilian President, Dilma Rousseff.
Since establishment of diplomatic ties on Dec. 2, 1960, the Viet Nam-Cuba relations have been developed in a way that manifests the warm sentiment and the faithful and consistent viewpoints of the Parties, States and people of the two countries.
Cuba has been leading the movement to support Viet Nam’s struggle for independence and national reunification in the past and national construction at present. It has boosted cooperation with Viet Nam in construction, transport, bio-technology, education, health care, sports and agriculture.
The two countries regularly exchange delegations at high levels as well as between ministries, sectors and localities.
The two sides reached high consensus on enhancing solidarity, friendship and cooperation iin line with the strength and potential of each country.
Viet Nam provided Cuba with 400,000 tonnes of rice in 2010 and 300,000 tonnes in 2011.
The two sides are implementing cooperation projects on the production of rice, soy bean and maize in Cuba. Vietnamese investors are also working on projects on oil and gas, infrastructure for tourism, telecoms, education and training in Cuba.
On the occasion of the Vietnamese Party leader’s visit, the Granma and Juventud Rebelde dailies of Cuba on April 7 announced the visit on their front pages.
They said the visit, the first to Cuba by Nguyen Phu Trong as Party General Secretary, aims to strengthen the traditional special friendship and cooperation between the two Parties, States and Governments.
