The event was jointly hosted by the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and the European Union (EU) in Ha Noi on Thursday.
The seminar is part of the EU-Viet Nam strategic dialogue, targeting to discuss on religion-related issues, clarify the changes and achievements in religion in Viet Nam.
It is also a good chance for the two sides to share experience in ensuring the rights of religious freedom and belief of people and contribute to perfect the legal system on the issue.
A large number of delegates said Viet Nam’s renewal process has brought about huge achievements in economic, cultural and social fields.
In that process, Viet Nam has recorded significant progresses in terms of religious freedom and belief, according to Mr. Juan-Jose Almagro Herrador, an economics and politics advisor of the European Commission (EC).
He said religion cooperation between the EU and Viet Nam is developing well. Both sides are expected to sign partnership agreements in order to broaden the bilateral dialogue.
Deputy Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyen Thanh Xuan affirmed that the cause of religious renovation is on a par with other fields like politics, economics, culture and society.
