Viet Nam, Singapore to sign strategic partnership soon
(VGP – 18/11/2012) - In their meeting on the sidelines of the 21st ASEAN Summit on November 18 in Cambodia, PM Nguyen Tan Dung and Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong agreed to sign a deal establishing the strategic partnership between the two countries in the near future.
The two leaders expressed their pleasure of fine development in the Viet Nam-Singapore relations, especially in economy, trade and investment with increasing numbers of effective Singapore-invested projects in Viet Nam.
They also agreed to closely coordinate to celebrate the 40th founding anniversary of their bilateral diplomatic relations in 2013.
The Singaporean PM affirmed that he will pay an official visit to Viet Nam, during which the two sides will sign a declaration on the establishment of their strategic partnership.
Regarding regional and international issues, the two PMs agreed that peace and stability in the East Sea is of great significance to the common development of the whole region.
They expected that ASEAN countries should be united, maintain solidarity and share common views, basing on the ASEAN six-point principle on the East Sea, implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and build the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea.
The Singaporean PM said his country will continue to support and closely coordinate with Viet Nam in the process of negotiating for the Trans Pacific Economic Partnership Agreement.
