Vietnamese leaders receive Brunei Energy Minister

(VNA - 25/02/2013) - President Truong Tan Sang and Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on February 25 hosted separate receptions in Ha Noi for visiting Brunei Minister of Energy Pehin Yasmin.

President Sang applauded the results of a working session between the Brunei delegation and the Viet Nam National Petroleum Group (PVN) to realise their cooperation agreements. He said the results will further strengthen the two countries’ economic ties.

He spoke highly of Brunei’s ASEAN Presidency and said that the two countries can intensify cooperation in the fields of agriculture, forestry and fishery.

Yasmin said that his visit to Viet Nam aims to realise the signed agreements of the two countries’ leaders, especially in oil and gas cooperation.

Regarding the working session with the PVN, he affirmed that the two sides reached a consensus to upgrade their relationship.

At the meeting with Yasmin, Deputy PM Hai said that Viet Nam hopes to continue attracting investment in energy, in particular from countries with petroleum strengths like Brunei.

Viet Nam is also willing to cooperate with businesses from Brunei to implement projects in the country as well as in third countries, including liquefied gas and the supply of crude oil for export and Dung Quat Oil Refinery, he added.

For his part, Yasmin affirmed Brunei’s determination to strengthen its fine relationship with Viet Nam in various fields.

He spoke highly of the importance of boosting petroleum cooperation between the two countries, adding that it will benefit both sides and contribute to the development of their relationship in ASEAN.
