Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan made the remarks at a reception for visiting Chairman of German Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs Ruprecht Polenz in Ha Noi on April 10.

Doan noted with joy the fruitful development of the Viet Nam-Germany strategic partnership in various areas, which, she said, is attributable to active contributions of the two countries’ legislators.

Thanking Germany for its official development assistance (ODA), she affirmed Viet Nam’s commitment to using the aid effectively in prioritised areas such as coping with climate change, sustainable development, vocational training and health care.

The leader took the occasion to praise the two countries’ legislative bodies for engaging in an array of activities to enhance their mutual understanding and trust and improve each side’s operation.

Polenz pledged that Germany will continue boosting cooperation with Viet Nam, especially in education and vocational training.

Host and guest considered the German House in Ho Chi Minh City and the Viet Nam-Germany University as symbols for cooperation between the two countries.

Also the same day, Polenz was received by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, during which the Vietnamese leader said the relations between the two countries have developed intensively and rapidly in various fields since they established their strategic partnership.

The two countries have regularly exchanged high-ranking delegations and enhanced cooperation in culture, arts, science and technology, he said.

Nhan expressed his thanks to the German Government for creating favourable conditions for over 130,000 overseas Vietnamese to live and work in the country.

The Deputy PM briefed his guest on Viet Nam’s socio-economic achievements with an economic growth rate of over 5 percent last year, thanks to the Vietnamese Government’s flexible management measures.

Nhan said he wishes that the fine relations between the two countries will be further strengthened and developed in the time to come.

As an active ASEAN member, Vietnam is ready to work as a bridge between Germany and the group, he affirmed.

For his part, Polenz expressed his impression of Viet Nam’s socio-economic performance over the past time, saying he hopes that the Vietnamese Government will create more favourable conditions for German businesses to operate in the country.

Viet Nam and Germany will promote friendship and cooperation in numerous areas, contributing to each side’s national construction and development, he said.
