Symbol of special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation

(VGP – 09/07/2013) - A grand ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Thanh Thuy (in Viet Nam’s central province of Nghe An) – Nam On (in Laos’ Bolikhamsay province) border gate to mark the completion of the landmark planting between the two countries.

The border gate is also where the last marker No.460 was inaugurated since the two Governments launched the project on upgrading and embellishing markers along the 2,067 km border line in 2008.

The completion of the landmark planting was the result of the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos.

It also reflects high consensus and mutual trust and understanding between the two Parties, States and peoples.

The new border marker system will contribute to consolidating border security, social order and safety as well as boosting the bilateral friendship and cooperation.

In his remarks at the event, PM Nguyen Tan Dung described the completion of the landmark planting as a joint victory in developing a borderline of peace, stability and cooperation.

He urged relevant agencies and localities of the two countries to fulfill the whole project in 2014, especially the conclusion of a new protocol on the borderline.

Both sides will also sign new agreements on borderline, border gates management regulations to facilitate trade, cooperation and maintain security and national defense along the borderline./.
