NZ Governor-General to visit VN
Viet Nam and New Zealand set up diplomatic relations in June 1975. Since then, both sides have signed a number of cooperative agreements in such fields like on economics and trade, investment encouragement and protection, and aviation.
The two countries have maintained exchange of high-ranking delegations, including Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s visit to New Zealand in April 2012 and New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Murray McCully’s visit to Viet Nam in November last year.
The two-way trade reached nearly US$600 million in 2012. New Zealand currently has 18 projects with total capital of over US$76 million in Viet Nam.
New Zealand is among official development assistance providers for Viet Nam. In the fiscal year 2012-2013, Viet Nam was granted NZD10.5 million.
Both sides also enjoy positive cooperation in national defense and security, education and training and labor./.
