Defence Minister visits the Philippines, Brunei
(Vietnamplus - 26/08/2013) - Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh is paying an official visit to the Philippines from August 25-27 at the invitation of his Filipino counterpart Voltaire T. Gazmin.
Thanh is scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to the Filipino President and hold talks with Gazmin, with whom he will discuss issues of mutual concern, including future cooperation aligned with a memorandum of understanding on national defence agreed between the two countries.
The Vietnamese diplomat will also attend the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) Retreat and the second ADMM Plus in Brunei from August 27-30 at the invitation of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.
Viet Nam is expected to reinforce its role and position within the framework of the ADMM Plus, contributing to peace, stability, security and development in the region.
