At the reception, President Sang highly valued the agency’s active support for environmental, healthcare, educational and cultural cooperation between the two nations.

Hailing the agency as one of Viet Nam’s primary donors, the leader said he expects JICA will pay more attention to projects in Vietnam, contributing to driving the Viet Nam-Japan friendship further.

He said Vietnamese agencies are reviewing the investment environment to provide the best conditions to Japanese investors.

For his part, Tanaka informed his host of financial and technological projects that his agency is conducting in Viet Nam based on the three pillars of economics, environment and administration.

The guest hoped the Vietnamese ministries and agencies will facilitate these projects, vowing to do his best to bolster the bilateral comprehensive partnership, especially in the construction of the Viet Nam-Japan University.

The same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also gave a reception for JICA’s new leader.

During the meeting, the PM expressed his thanks to the Japanese Government for providing the largest amount of official development assistance (ODA) to Viet Nam, wishing that Japan will continue its high ODA provision in the future, focusing on the fields of infrastructure building and climate change adaptation.

PM Dung affirmed Viet Nam always oversees and uses the ODA effectively for its socio-economic development goals.

The JICA leader wants Viet Nam to create favourable conditions for Japanese businesses to invest in the country by paying more attention to land clearance, arranging corresponding capital for Japan’s ODA projects as well as hastening the disbursement of approved projects.

He affirmed his agency will strive to contribute to the fine Viet Nam-Japan friendship and cooperation.
