President welcomes Cambodian Co-Prosecutor

(Vietnamplus - 04/09/2013) - President Truong Tan Sang received visiting National Co-Prosecutor at the Office of Co-Prosecutors under the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) Chea Leang in Ha Noi on September 4.
 
At the reception, President Sang spoke highly of the cooperation between the Office of Co-Prosecutors and the Viet Nam Supreme People’s Procuracy over the past time.

He suggested the two sides intensify multi-faceted cooperation, especially in trans-national crime prevention and judicial support.

Viet Nam is actively implementing judicial reform in combination with raising the quality of personnel training, he said, adding that with its experience, Vietnam can hold regular exchanges and strengthen cooperation and mutual support with the Cambodian side.

Congratulating Viet Nam on its 68 th National Day, Chea Leang, who is also Prosecutor General at the Cambodian Supreme Court, thanked the Vietnamese State and people’s procuracy sector for their assistance to Cambodia over the past years.

She stated that based on their traditional relationship, the two procuracy sectors have maintained and fostered cooperation in many fields, looking towards a strong and transparent judiciary, serving the two countries’ socio-economic development.

The Cambodian guest said she hopes the two countries’ commitments on judicial support will be realized and the two sides will increase delegation exchanges and experience sharing in order to improve staff capacity.

She expressed her wish that Viet Nam will become an official member of the International Association of Prosecutors.
