Viet Nam, China discuss Tonkin Gulf issues

(Vietnamplus - 11/10/2013) - Vietnamese and Chinese experts agreed to bolster cooperation for mutual development in the waters off the Gulf of Tonkin at their fourth round of negotiations in Beijing, China from October 7-9.

In a friendly, frank and constructive atmosphere, both sides vowed to push forward negotiations, especially those related to demarcation of maritime boundaries in the waters off the Gulf of Tonkin based on the common perception of the two countries’ leaders.

Considering the agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of Viet Nam–China sea-related issues, they touched upon the raised issues in line with the agreed negotiation roadmap and principles.

The fifth round of negotiations is scheduled for the first half of 2014 in Viet Nam.
